Following the disbandment of his former band, Nelo, songwriter/producer Matthew Scott Ragland will return with his first solo release. Ragland will release a double single called “Here and Now / Now is Here” on Tuesday, Feb. 18 across all major platforms. Ragland was inspired to write “Here and Now / Now is Here” after finding solace in making music again.

Ragland has found his muse after a stint with Nelo, an Austin-based band formerly signed to Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Records that broke up abruptly after years of successful touring. The artist is ready to step back into the spotlight with his new self-titled project and plans to release a series of singles alongside several Nelo remixes this year.

With his former band, the artist toured nationally for years, gracing stages like the House of Blues, ACL Live in Austin, and the Granada Theater and performing on bills with the Doobie Brothers, Neon Trees, Bob Schneider, Pat Green, and more. Nelo racked up over a million plays on Spotify and ten thousand fans still tune in monthly to the former rock group’s songs. They charted nationally in the top 10 on the iTunes Rock Charts and #21 on the Billboard’s Heatseekers charts after releasing multiple albums together

The double singles were written and produced entirely by Ragland and mixed by veteran mixing/recording engineer and producer Bradley Prakope and mastered by engineer Randy Merrill, who worked on Adele’s “25” and Beck’s “Hyperspace”. “Here and Now / Now is Here” will be released on Apple Music and Spotify on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
