Portuguese pop sensation April Ivy continues to carve out a name for herself with “Far From Home” – her third single following her new signing with Beverly Martel.
“Far From Home” portrays a softer side to the artist and explores the pain of distance slowly creeping into a once-perfect love. The track’s touching mix of delicate guitars, atmospheric piano keys and soaring harmonies beautifully compliments April’s emotional vocal performance: “I always let the distance get the best of me / When you’re so far from me / So far from home” she outpours during the melancholic chorus.
The single follows on from April’s well-received January release “Can’t Fight This Feeling” – labelled a “deep-dive into the realm of disco beats and grooves” by THE LINE OF BEST FIT– and February’s “Temporary Love”, which premiered exclusively on ATWOOD MAGAZINE who declared April a “rising force.” As with her previous singles, “Far From Home” is produced by AZTX and co-written by them with April and Danny Wilkin of Push Baby (f.k.a. Rixton).
20 year-old April, who counts Ariana Grande as a fan, has been leaving a mark with her music, making her a national sensation when it comes to radio airplay and music festivals. The award-winning artist started her career in show business at the age of 9, when April began voicing Disney characters in Portuguese dubs of titles including Toy Story 3, Tangled and Minnie & You.
In 2016, April’s chart topping first single “Be Ok” made it onto major radio playlists and caught the attention of Universal Music France, who quickly signed her at the age of 16. After an onslaught of singles over the years, April’s July 2019 project with Warner Portugal game.of.love earned her an MTV Award nomination for “Best Portuguese Act”, her Globos de Ouronomination (Portuguese Golden Globes) for “Best New Artist” and the award for “Best New Artist” for Nova Era.
Now, April continues to impress fans globally with “Far From Home” after stints at Warner Portugal, Sony Portugal and Universal France. The future is clearly bright for April Ivy, a sensational artist unfolding who has the potential to reach the upper echelons of the international pop sphere with a myriad of gripping ear-worms still waiting to be unveiled.
