A funky bop with far more somber tones, ‘Nightlife’ opens our eyes to the reality of ‘living for the nightlife’. The song is a raw and honest depiction of a difficult time in Reino’s life, where he felt lost and alone. The lyrics explore the theme of living for the nightlife as a way to escape the troubles of the day. Watch the music video for ‘Nightlife’
Reino’s flaring authenticity shines through the lyrics, and adds, “On the outside it sounds cool and funky, but the inside is very dark. ‘Nightlife’ is mostly written about me, and a phase I went through in my first year of Uni. It involved a lot of emotional anger, and a lot of confusion as to what my purpose was in life. That’s why I’m doing music and stopped studying.”
‘Break and Bend’, is a profound commentary on the twists and turns of life. This 8-track record is an unafraid statement on joy, growing up, heartbreak and unity. Brink also opens up about his struggles with anxiety, saying, “Not everything is smiles and rainbows, but I’m not scared to tackle subjects like mental health. No-one should be scared to talk about it.”
With epic guitar riffs and catchy tunes, the album is a must-listen for anyone looking for music that speaks to their heart and soul. Get ready to unleash the nostalgia as Reino Brink takes you on a journey through the golden era of music with ‘Break and Bend.’
