Harleymoon Kemp’s recent single ‘What Good Looks Like’ introduced the singer-songwriter to new audiences. It saw her hit one of the biggest stages of her career as she hosted and performed on the main stage at the Mayor of London’s huge St. George’s Day festival in Trafalgar Square. The track’s stripped-back story of knowing what love is earned coverage from NOTION, Hello, Daily Star and Daily Express, as well as a range of pop/country/Americana tastemakers.
After ‘What Good Looks Like’ provides a classy introduction to the EP, ‘Lone Ranger’ sees Harleymoon raise the temperature with a stomping, sassy strut full of dancefloor fun and self-empowerment. While her heartfelt, authentic storytelling is her key strength throughout the set, it also displays her versatility. The warm production of ‘Faith In You’ feels as natural as if you’re witnessing Harleymoon’s live band, while her already vivacious voice is complemented by male vocal harmonies courtesy of Alex Francis. Its final song ‘America’ brings the energy back, this time with a luminous summer-pop edge as she uses the American dream as a metaphor for the potential of a new love.
Harleymoon wrote or co-wrote all four songs, drawing on a wealth of personal experiences to capture episodic chapters of moments in her life that will speak to fans caught in the middle of similar situations. Collectively she adds a Brit flavour to the broad international appeal of some of her biggest influences such as Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Ashley McBride, Lainey Wilson, LeAnn Rimes and Alanis Morrissette. Her collaborators on the EP include Charlie T (Calum Scott, Jax Jones), Barnabas Shaw (Twinnie, Megan McKenna), Adrian Hall (Goldfrapp, All Saints), Michelle Leonard (AURORA,Robin Schulz), Jess Sharman (Gabrielle Aplin, Ward Thomas) and fellow solo artist Loren.
The ‘Lone Ranger’ represents Harleymoon’s first body of work after a series of independently released singles which started with the UK Country Music #1 ‘Space’. Her songs have continued to connect ever since, with the likes of ‘Fast Fwd’, ‘He Ain’t You’ and ‘She Looks Like Me’ as she performed at the Isle of Wight and Brighton Pride as well as earning airplay atBBC and Absolute Country plus key playlists at Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal.
Based in London but regularly visiting Nashville for sessions, Harleymoon has felt compelled to make music since childhood. It was only natural given her family: her father is actor and Spandau Ballet legend Martin Kemp, her mother is Shirlie Kemp of Pepsie & Shirlie and Wham!, and the TV presenter / recent BRIT Award host Roman Kemp is her brother.
