R&B/Soul singer iyla is back today with a sultry new musical offering, “Wild.” Paired with a smoldering visualizer, “Wild” was co-written by iyla, alongside Yah Yah and Ben Free and produced by longtime collaborator Kadis, offering listeners yet another tantalizing taste of what the critically acclaimed LA-based soul singer-songwriter has in store for us this year.
Speaking about the new track, iyla reveals, “’Wild’ unleashes the story of a once innocent relationship that quickly turns dark. I used nature as a way to reflect our own animalistic senses, and to show the tug of war between desire and danger wrapped up in a woman’s need to break free from toxicity and control.”
Wild” serves as the follow up to “Overboard,” (LISTEN) iyla’s first official release of 2025, lauded by Uproxxas “hypnotic” and “spicy.” Last year, iyla made her highly-anticipated return with “Strut,” (LISTEN) an in your face, no holds barred banger, hailed by Rated R&B as “a much-needed bounce-back anthem,” with VIBEproclaiming, “in the world of blue-eyed soul, iyla is back,” calling the song “a bold contrast from her ballad, ‘Blue Eyes,’ iyla’s beautiful and emotional ballad, released one year after the passing of her beloved mother and best friend, following a hard-fought eighteen month battle with cancer. The official music video for “Blue Eyes,” directed by iyla incorporates nostalgic snippets from childhood videos and sees iyla paying tribute to her mother, tossing roses into the ocean, in a beautiful, heart-wrenching homage.
