Legendary left-field UK musician, producer and label founder µ‑Ziq is gearing up to unveil an expansive remix of emerging IDM artist Textbook Maneuver’s ‘Adrenaline Slip’, slated for release on November 7th, 2025 via LLC Records. µ‑Ziq, known for work beyond the project as Mike Paradinas, is a multi-hyphenate artist and founder of the influential record label Planet Mu. Emerging in 1993 as a premier figure in the IDM scene, Paradinas has built a prolific career spanning aliases such as Jake Slazenger, Kid Spatula, and Tusken Raiders, earning praise from tastemaker outlets like Pitchfork, The Guardian, DJ Mag, and Pop Matters, among others. His 1997 album Lunatic Harness, which sold over 100 000 copies worldwide, is widely celebrated as a luminary landmark of drill‑’n’‑bass and IDM. His 1999 release Royal Astronomyfurther cemented his reputation for innovative, orchestral-inspired electronic music, appearing on year-end best album lists from publications such as NME. As founder of Planet Mu, Paradinas has championed and released groundbreaking work in genres including breakcore, footwork, and dubstep, giving early exposure to influential artists like Venetian Snares and Jlin while establishing the label as a cornerstone of the global electronic music scene.
Textbook Maneuver is a Bronx-born, New Jersey-based composer emerging as one of experimental electronic music’s most intriguing new figures. A classically-trained pianist with a punk DIY heart, he blends cerebral sound design with cinematic storytelling, drawing from influences ranging from Genesis (Duke era), Rush, and Gary Numan to The Postal Service, U.N.K.L.E., and Phantogram. His releases balance the intellectual curiosity of IDM with the emotional resonance of ambient and prog-influenced electronica, producing soundscapes suitable for film, television, and interactive media. Critics compare his music to Jon Hopkinsand Nils Frahm, with listeners also hearing echoes of Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, and Squarepusher, highlighting Textbook Maneuver’s ability to thrive on improvisation and sonic experimentation.
The original version of ‘Adrenaline Slip’ weaves shifting rhythms, pulsing synths, and flickering layers into a seamless journey from airy chillout to dark intensity, culminating in a breakneck IDM climax. µ-Ziq’s remix, sure to ensnare fans of Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Enigma [TBC], stretches the original into something more vast and wintery. Hypnotic tambourine, breakbeats and expansive atmospherics hearken to the wall-of-sound textures of 90s shoegaze while the track remains anchored in IDM-focused electronic scaffolding.
µ-Ziq shared: “The starting point for my remix of Adrenaline Slip was the one of the stems, an Alchemy patch which sounds like a distorted electric guitar. I processed and cut it up, adding a breakbeat and tried to make it all a bit dreamy and smeared inspired by 90s shoegaze bands like MBV and early Swervedriver.”
