New York–based alternative artist Mechanical Woman is ready to share her voice – and her debut LP Voice of an Old Soul, out Friday, March 27, is the perfect representation of all of her pop, indie, and alternative-inspired facets.
The LP, which was introduced by the singles “Mechanical Woman” and “Curbside Diamonds,” is rooted in self-discovery and determination:
“I needed to start out on my own. I bought a guitar, taught myself how to play, wrote the album, then taught myself how to produce and record. Then I bought a drill and built myself a recording studio in my kitchen. I created something entirely on my own, from scratch, and then built upon it. I was tired of being ignored – of being told you’re too this, you’re too that… I thought, “forget it,” and then thought, “could I do it myself?” That’s the greatest gift to oneself”.
A super unique note: Mechanical Woman’s approach to her craft is as unique as the little moments. She built her own personal recording booth entirely from salvaged wood, creating a space that invites experimentation into her musical creations.
