Izzy Hagerup – also known as Prewn – doesn’t shy away from the ugly side of life. Her “ragged, tormented indie-rock” is twisted like a house of mirrors and delves into “the sound of your broken, beating, dripping, heaving heart”, as she sings on “Don’t Be Scared”, in a way that is compelling, thrilling and moreish. Her remarkable breakthrough LP, “System”, landed last year on Exploding In Sound and has gathered further momentum in 2026 through word-of-mouth and its sheer unrelenting quality. “System” was self-recorded at home by Izzy, largely in the early hours (She told The Line Of Best Fit, “making it candy to my ears, on my own in the middle of the night”), with her playing all the instruments and writing every word.
Prewn’s much-anticipated debut UK shows start this weekend at Dot to Dot Festival in Bristol, and are followed by three long since sold out shows at Oslo in London, upgraded from The Lexington, YES in Manchester and The Green Door Store in Brighton. The Guardian championed her in their tips for 2026, with Laura Snapes writing that “like her forebears Fiona Apple and Giant Drag, Izzy Hagerup puts a distinctly twisty take on indie-rock, and is unafraid of dark emotional truths.”
Prewn will return in August and September for dates at Green Man Festival, End Of The Road, Manchester Psych Fest and further headline dates including The Garage in London.
