Multi-platinum singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Daniel Seavey returns with new single “Love’s a Gun,” available now alongside a Matty Peacock (Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes) directed music video via Atlantic Records.
Initially written during a pre-tour trip to Stockholm with producers VERA (Lukas Graham, Peso Pluma) and SørenBreum (MØ), Seavey completed the song back in his Los Angeles studio by both producing and playing the entirety of the track’s instruments himself. The result is a sparkling, catchy, maximalist pop moment with culled inspiration from the likes of Phil Collins‘ “Another Day in Paradise” and Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used to Know”.
“Love’s a Gun” is a song about me admitting I saw the damage coming and still walked straight into it. It’s about me choosing them over myself, even knowing it would leave me empty. I wanted the music to feel beautiful and dangerous at the same time since that’s exactly what this kind of love feels like.” – DANIEL SEAVEY
“Love’s a Gun” marks Seavey’s second release this year, following last month’s “Time to Time (Annie).” Both tracks arrived as instant fan-favorites, having been premiered live along his support performances on Charlie Puth‘s North American Whatever’s Clever! Tour, hitting Madison Square Garden tonight and marking another career milestone for Seavey. On stage, the intentions of how these songs were written are laid bare: Seavey had started to experiment with a looper pedal last year on his solo headline Second Wind Tour, which included sold-out stops at The Novo in Los Angeles and Irving Plaza in New York City before extending across Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
With nearly 300 million global solo streams to date, Daniel Seavey enters the next era of his career at his brightest, boldest, and most brilliant.
