TRAIN RELEASES 12TH STUDIO ALBUM MAD DOG IN THE FOG

Multi-GRAMMY Award-winning, diamond-selling, San Francisco band TRAIN releases their highly anticipated 12th studio album, Mad Dog in the Fog, available everywhere now via Columbia Records.

On Mad Dog in the Fog, Train returns to the city where it all began. Named after a beloved San Francisco neighborhood bar that played an important role in the band’s earliest days, the album is an ode to the city, celebrating the place, community, and spirit that have remained central to Train’s identity over the last three decades.
 
Of the album, frontman Pat Monahan shares: “It’s been over four years since our last album, and we channeled a special energy into this record that really defines all parts of who we are as a band. Mad Dog in the Fog is one of the first places in San Francisco where Train came together as a band. It was the first venue to pay us to play, and its owner, Cyril, has been one of our biggest champions from the beginning. So it only felt right to name this album in its honor.” 
 
In a fitting full-circle moment, last week, the band returned to the bar that inspired the album’s name to kick off release week celebrations with an epic block party that shut down San Francisco’s Haight Street. Train took the stage outside Mad Dog in the Fog in front of a massive crowd of lucky fans for a free, 40-minute performance featuring chart-topping hits including “Save Me, San Francisco,” “Hey, Soul Sister,” “Drive By,” and “Drops of Jupiter,” alongside songs from the new album that have already become fan favorites on tour, including “Pennsylvania Turnpike,” “Blue Brush-Footed Butterfly,” “To Gloria,” and, of course, the album’s title track, “Mad Dog in the Fog.” 
 
The celebration also welcomed 49ers legend Harris Barton and San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, a longtime Train fan and incredible supporter of the band. None of it would have been possible without the bar’s owner, Cyril Hackett, whose early support of the band helped make Mad Dog in the Fog such an important part of Train’s story. Introducing the band on stage, Cyril shared: “This band started at the Mad Dog in the Fog 32 years ago, and they return tonight. We’re bringing music back to the Haight. There’s been nothing like this since the Grateful Dead roamed these streets.”

Train has been celebrating the 25th anniversary of their career-defining album, Drops of Jupiter, all summer long on the Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in the Atmosphere Tour, marking the band’s biggest headlining tour in over a decade and drawing packed crowds while setting merchandise sales records night after night. The tour, which kicked off July 8, has brought fans across North America an epic night of music featuring Train’s most iconic hits from their critically acclaimed catalog spanning three decades. On Wednesday, Train returned to the Bay Area for a sold-out hometown show at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. 
 
Joined by very special guests Barenaked Ladies and Matt Nathanson on most dates, the Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in The Atmosphere Tour continues this weekend with its final four shows in Bend, OR, Ridgefield, WA, Auburn, WA, and Vancouver, BC, where the tour concludes on September 1.
