Das Mörtal unveils DECVY I MINI-ALBUM shares ‘RESTLESS’

Prolific synthwave artist Das Mörtal returns with a new mini-album, DECVY I(Decay), only one year after his last EP release, ORIGINS. Scheduled for arrival on October 30th, 2026, through Lisbon Lux Records, DECVY I launches an ambitious trilogy of mini-albums, delving into body and mind decay while navigating realms of dark obsession and sheer physical exhaustion. A leading figure in global synthwave, Das Mörtal has accumulated over 32 million Spotify streams, backed by major playlists like Retrowave // Outrun and Darkwave, global radio support, and key YouTube channels. He earned Most Added New Release on the US NACC Top 200, with coverage from CLASH Magazine, KALTBLUT, METAL, Numéro Netherlands, Brutal Resonance, YourEDM, NOTION, PostPunk.com, and EARMILK.. Since 2015, he has played nearly 100 live shows, including over 70 across the U.S. and Europe, festival slots at Osheaga, Transmusicales, FME, and MEG, and tour support for Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut.

Now based in Montréal, Das Mörtal began his musical journey in Berlin, drawing early inspiration from artists such as Steve Moore and Aphex Twin. The producer forges a dark and nostalgic sound, skillfully mixing influences that range from German techno to horror and sci-fi film soundtracks

Written during health struggles, the seven-track DECVY I explores illness, pain, obsession, and exhaustion. The darkwave album is driven by hypnotic synths, heavy beats and his signature dystopian atmosphere. Blending dark techno and witch house with trance influences, the trance-punk opening ‘DRAIN ME’ conveys the frustration of medical tests, while the witch-house track ‘GHOST’ offers comfort to someone grieving. Darkwave-infused ‘PARASITE’ depicts illness as an invasive force, followed by ‘NO CONTROL,’ a sombre synthwave reflection on losing control. The second half intensifies: ‘THE ENDLESS’ combines euphoric trance with witch house to portray endless suffering, and closer ‘IT KEEPS ME UP’delivers dark techno and dystopian sound design depicting a mind consumed by pain.

The album’s focus track, ‘RESTLESS’, opens on a welcome poppy note. Washed-out synth plucks are accompanied by swelling, looming basslines that drop into masterful, synthwave-inspired percussion. Das Mörtal’s hauntingly powerful lyrics recount moments of restlessness and isolation that come with illness. The track builds steadily over the course of its three-and-a-half-minute runtime, eventually erupting into a powerful instrumental breakdown. Guttural, booming bass creates a sense of force, while plucking, ’80s-inspired synths heighten the track’s underlying urgency. Channelling the agitation and sleeplessness caused by pain, ‘RESTLESS’ is sure to ensnare fans of Vitalic, Perturbator, Boy Harsher and Ø [phase].

Das Mörtal shared, “DECVY I is a snapshot of my decaying mind & body through the ups and downs of my fight against pain and suffering.”
