Eveliina Blends Nordic Magic And Groove-Led Pop On Debut Single “Talking To My Body”

Finnish artist and acclaimed fiction writer Eveliina is a natural storyteller whose work spans music, literature and poetry. Having studied fiction writing at Columbia University in New York, she brings a cinematic imagination, emotional precision and a keen eye for the human experience to her music. With time spent living in New York, London, Rabat and Austin, Eveliina draws on an international perspective, combining her Nordic roots with North American storytelling and musical influences. Her music combines strong melodies and atmospheric sounds, exploring themes of self-discovery and coming to terms with the past.

With her debut single, “Talking To My Body,” Eveliina comes into full bloom as a songwriter, delivering a hypnotic, groove-led pop track about returning to the body and embracing embodiment. Combining Nordic magic with electronic textures and unexpected musical turns, the song invites listeners to quiet their inner critic, trust their instincts and experience life more fully. Eveliina reflects, “I want to encourage people to reconnect with their bodies, embrace their sensual side and enjoy life to the fullest.”

The inspiration behind “Talking To My Body” comes from Eveliina’s own experiences of rediscovering her femininity, sensuality and creativity after becoming a mother. Speaking about this personal journey, she explains, “After having children I felt that my sexual and feminine side had gone into hibernation. Then I experienced a powerful creative collaboration with someone who shared a similar aesthetic vision. The process truly awakened me on so many levels. I came back into my body and developed a deeper connection with my emotions, my own sensuality, and my creativity.”

“The song tells a story of opening new territories within us by tuning into our bodies. I feel I’ve finally arrived at a place within myself where I understand what truly turns me on – emotionally, intellectually and physically – and what turns me off.”

For Eveliina, sensuality extends far beyond sexuality, something she feels is often overlooked in contemporary pop music. She explains, “I feel that in pop music there’s a lot of sexuality but not that much sensuality. To me sensuality plays out in everything in life: It’s everywhere: the way I put my claw clip on, the way I read my children their bedtime stories, the way I dance alone in the dark just for my own pleasure, and the way older women carry themselves with kindness and grace in public saunas.”

Sonically, “Talking To My Body” is warm, playful and made to move to. A confident, infectious beat drives the track, accompanied by colourful synths and Eveliina’s sweet, expressive vocals. Her delivery moves between ethereal passages in the verses and pre-choruses and a rapid-fire, spoken vocal riff, where she chants, “Rhythmically aligned / Bodily compatibility / Somatically attracted / Bodily compatibility / Sensorily in sync,” creating a contagious, rhythmic hook. The final verse, sung in Italian, adds another unexpected twist. The accompanying music video, directed by acclaimed Finnish music video director Ezra Gould, follows Eveliina on a transformative journey back to herself.

Eveliina’s collaboration with Austin-based producer Walker Lukens brings together two distinct musical influences. As she explains, “I think the sonically darker elements and emotionally open lyrics come from my Finnish background and it feels natural to write a ‘darker’ and often more deeper song in Finland than in Austin. Whereas, the rhythmic and groove-led elements come to me more easily in Austin.”

“Talking To My Body” is both an introduction to Eveliina’s evolving sound and a conversation starter about a culture that puts the rational mind above all else, outsources our body awareness to the Oura Ring and forgets what it means to truly feel at home in our bodies.

Beyond music, Eveliina has received wide acclaim in Finland for her fiction writing. Her debut book, Late Bloomers, a collection of short stories about people overachieving without achieving, sparked widespread discussion in the Finnish media about the pressures and challenges of overachievement, particularly among young women. Her autobiographical artwork, Mother’s Wardrobe, combined photography and poetry to explore growing up without a mother, grief and the societal taboos surrounding the expression of sadness. “Talking To My Body,” sees Eveliina bringing that same passion for storytelling into her music, opening a new chapter in her creative journey.
