Manchester based singer-songwriter Abbie Ozard has been turning heads in such a short space of time, and she marches on with another delightful gem to add to the collection with her latest release “Heartbreak Radio”.Kickstarting the single, Spotify selected the track to for their very New Music Friday Playlist streaming to over 700,000 listeners on its day of release!
Following swiftly from “Growing Pains”, she returns with a playfully upbeat indie number that dabbles in shoegaze, expertly crafted together with its slick array of guitars and soft synths. It’s sweet to the ears, thanks in parts to its loose 80’s production cues, her brilliant song writing and, of course, Abbie’s soft, understated vocal which gives it a contemporary placing and promise in today’s modern music scene.
Taking further influence from a range of modern artists such as Snail Mail and Fenne Lily, Abbie fuses Melancholic sounds with introspective lyricism throughout her work. Speaking on “Heartbreak Radio” Abbie states: “I think every single person who has been through a relationship will have a song that comes on and it instantly reminds you of a previous relationship. The brain is a mad thing and the fact that a melody can you remind you of a certain chapter in your life shows how powerful music really is without you even realising.
‘Heartbreak Radio’ reiterates the fact moments in your life will never be forgotten when they are put together with music. With some reminding, memories never leave your head and will stay with us forever.”
It was whilst studying at Manchester’s BIMM that Abbie was able to refine her talent as both a songwriter and a vocalist, and with a full debut EP expected to arrive later this year,Abbie Ozard is a captivating talent with a sound that deserves to be heard.
You can catch Abbie at Bluedot Festival later this year!
