Following her packed-to-the-rafters set at Coachella’s DoLab tent last weekend, Aluna teams up with GRAMMY®-nominated, chart-topping artist Chris Lake, on the irresistible new single ‘Beggin,’’ released today via Black Book Records/Astralwerks.
With her playful yet seductive vocals, Aluna promises, “I’ll get you beggin beggin” and Lake’s breezy production matches her mischievous tone, punctuating a steady beat with bright aural surprises. Lake and Aluna co-wrote ‘Beggin’’ and recorded it at his Black Book Studios.
“’Beggin’ is a tale of caution,” explains Chris Lake. “Sometimes you want someone so badly, but when you get them, you wish you’d never set eyes on them…a bit like me. I’m a lot,” adds Aluna.
‘Beggin’” arrives following the release of another incredible collaboration, ‘Killing Me’ (out now via Mad Decent) with emerging UK producer TSHA, which NYLON hailed as a “revitalizing house jam,” while Billboardlauded the track for its “lyrics about the struggles of love [that] showcase Aluna’s ever-exquisite vocals and also juxtapose them against an effervescent production,” not to mention, Seventeen Magazine who included the song in its ’38 Best Songs of 2023 So Far’ at No. 2. ‘Killing Me’ sees Aluna laying an infectious vocal over a four-to-the-floor groove that never lets up, while TSHA lends her ingenious production skills for the track, serving a dose of early ‘00s nostalgia with a disco-infused house beat and chopped up vocal samples. An instant hit, the track has already been selected as Hottest Record of the Week by BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard.
In other news, Aluna will be keeping fans fed with a steady stream of new music, confirming that a brand-new album is due out later this year.
This Spring Aluna, is set to embark on a UK/European headline tour, followed by a string of North American festivals this summer, including Breakaway Music Festival in Charlotte, NC (TICKETS), Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, AL (TICKETS), Sundown Solstice Festival in Anchorage, AK (TICKETS), Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury, MI (TICKETS), Bleached Festival in San Diego, CA (TICKETS), Higher Ground Festival in Seattle, WA (TICKETS), and North Coast Festival in Chicago, IL (TICKETS). Originally getting her start as one half of the beloved duo AlunaGeorge, Aluna Francis has now gained attention as a solo artist while releasing her debut album Renaissance in 2020 (LISTEN) via Mad Decent, which Aluna co-produced alongside executive producer Lido, featuring contributions from Princess Nokia, Jada Kingdom, SG Lewis, KAYTRANADA, Scott Storch, GRADES, Mr. Carmack and Rema. Renaissancerepresents the culmination of her journey of “a black girl in an all-white British suburb back in the day” to launching a rule-breaking revolution where rigid boundaries dissolve between culture, race, gender, and genre.
