Blakeley

Blakeley

Blakeley has just dropped a great new track that is full of attitude and sass.  Refreshingly non-PC, “Caffeine & Nicotine” is an ode to addiction that is completely unapologetic for the narrators’ severe issues with coffee and cigarettes.  From the opening guitar riffs, I was hooked with this upbeat pop/rock tune that feels almost subversive in our culture today.  As a follow-up to last years’ “Singing Hymns”, “Caffeine & Nicotine” again shows Blakeley as a confident, able songwriter.  She combines serious, challenging lyrics within a solid sense of song structure.  Also there is a hint of surf rock and rockabilly in the tight guitar work by Dylan Marcheschi and hand-claps, as well as a attitude of just plain fun.  As a result the song is a winner!

Hailing from Fort Collins, CO originally, this Brooklyn transplant is merging folk, pop, spoken word and rockabilly into her compositions.   Laced with humor, “Caffeine & Nicotine” is a welcome sampling of Blakeley’s forthcoming EP release ‘Sin Cider’.  You can download “Caffeine & Nicotine” on Haulix here.  It is also available on Spotify.

Originally from Fort Collins, CO, Blakeley is a chameleon-like songstress whose bold crossover compositions merge elements of folk, EDM, and rockabilly pop.  Many tracks that sound like a marriage between confessional poetry, deep house, and effervescent guitar twanging.  Her cutting voice probes the absurdity of topics as diverse as Edward Albee plays and online dating.  Blakeley writes, produces, and performs her work in a variety of mediums. She is currently at work on an EP with Happy Hound records.  ‘Sin Cider’ is set for release at the end of 2017. You can find more of her music, videos and galleries on her official website.  Currently she lives in New York City.
