With her latest single, Carley Arrowood — who showed off her compelling voice on “Deeper In Love” and her instrumental prowess on “Tsali’s Run” — rounds out a creative trifecta, giving listeners one more reason to follow along by showing off her songwriting, too.
“Chasin’ Indigo,” which Arrowood penned with her husband, Daniel Thrailkill, is yet another example of why Arrowood’s music has garnered such excitement. The song pulls listeners in with a reminder to step away from must-do tasks and shift focus instead to spending time with those you love.
“A lot of times when you work from home it’s hard to find a stopping point, because you get so immersed in what you’re doing. My husband Daniel and I wrote ‘Chasin’ Indigo’ as a way of remembering to look up, take our minds off our work and focus on each other the most,” says Arrowood. “One of our favorite things to do in the summertime is sit out at the end of our driveway and watch the sun go down across the pasture. Daniel’s favorite part is when the sky finally turns deep blue (the cover is of a sunset he captured in our front yard last summer!).”
Arrowood — joined by Thrailkill on guitar, Nick Dumas on mandolin, Tabitha Benedict (The Foreign Landers) on banjo, Jeff Partin (Rhonda Vincent & The Rage) on bass and dobro, and Tony Creasman on drums — brings listeners to that driveway’s end, with vivid imagery that evokes the feeling of a summer night in the country. The chorus captures the reminder to live in the moment, as Arrowoodsings,
“Let’s find somewhere to go, down an endless road
Chasin’ indigo
‘Cause these moments are few and far between
To step out of this same routine and take it slow
Chasin’ indigo”
“‘Chasin’ Indigo’ is such a special song to us,” Arrowood continues, “to remind each other that the simple moments together like that are ‘few and far between.'”
“Chasin’ Indigo” is streaming in Dolby Atmos spatial audio on Apple Music, TIDAL and Amazon Music. Dolby Atmos is a sound experience you can feel all around you. Familiar from its “surround sound” application in thousands of movie theaters” Dolby Atmos reveals “depth, clarity and details like never before.”
