DEADLETTER are sharing the video for new single ‘Relieved’, the latest track to be taken from forthcoming debut album Hysterical Strength (13thSeptember via SO Recordings). ‘Relieved’ follows lead single ‘Mere Mortal’ – which saw a raft of early media support and landed on the BBC 6 Music playlist – and the incendiary follow-up ‘Mother’. Today’s new single finds its motivation in discomfort, the band delivering one of the album’s saxophones-to-the-front heavy hitters.
Lead singer Zac Lawrence says about the song: “Ever been collared by the most bizarre person in a smoking area and wondered how to escape? Too polite to simply turn your back on said oddball? Relieved is about this very British problem of over-minding one’s manners and the inability to remove oneself from an encounter that oozes discomfort.”
Produced by famed British producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele), the album’s opening statements make for a model introduction to a record of exploratory art-punk that brews malevolent atmospheres and searches darkened corridors for clarity amongst the cacophony of chaos.
