Ghita SHARES HER DEBUT EP ‘LOST ANGELES’

Ascendant pop star Ghita has gone from strength-to-strength over the course of recent releases such as ‘On My Mind’ and ‘Real Lies’ (featuring CKay). Full of empowering attitude, her irresistible blend of inventive alt-pop and bass-heavy R&B draws on an international array of influences to create something with global appeal. It’s a distinctive style that’s been praised by the likes of Clash, High Snobiety, Idolator, Notion, PAPER and Wonderland while quickly accumulating over 4 million streams.

Following that engaging introduction, Ghita today releases her debut EP ‘LOST ANGELES’. Its six tracks explore immensely relatable stories that many young people of her generation experience: trying to fulfil ambitions in an increasingly challenging world, asserting female equality in a patriarchal society, and discovering that both love and friendship don’t always work out how you had expected.

Ghita launches the EP by sharing a video for the new track ‘Satisfied’. Produced by 9AM (Ty Dolla $ign,Jason Derulo) and co-written by Blush (Kelly Rowland, Meghan Trainor), its every element immediately embeds itself in your mind, from its thumping elastic bassline to its infectious handclaps and Ghita’s soulfully delivered chorus. That fierce feelgood factor carries a message of self-determination: you can achieve great things without compromising your integrity.

That concept is explored in the accompanying video, which was directed by Netstyle. Ghita is hard at work in a textile factory, when her boss arrives with an indecent proposal that implies she can sleep her way to stardom. The song then bursts into life, with Ghita and friends mixing up contemporary choreography with some throwback ’50s chic. And by the time the action cuts back to the factory, her answer is clear.

Ghita explains, “The idea behind ‘Satisfied’ was inspired by lots of stories I’ve heard of men who will help your career if they get something from you. It happens in so many walks of life. I just want to make music, I don’t want to have to date the right people to get bigger opportunities. ‘Satisfied’ is an empowering reminder to myself and others that we can reach our goals without any extra help.”

‘Satisfied’ is one of two new songs that feature on the ‘LOST ANGELES’ EP, along with the opening track ‘Not That Guy’. It’s completed by the four other tracks that Ghita has released throughout 2020 in the shape of ‘Out Of My Life’, ‘Real Lies’, ‘On My Mind (Visions)’ and ‘No Stopping’. The EP features collaborations with leading writers and producers including The Stereotypes (Cardi B, Bruno Mars), Kimberly ‘Kaydence’ Krysiuk (Ariana Grande’s ‘7 Rings’) and 9AM (Ty Dolla $ign,Jason Derulo).

Ghita’s melting pot of influences sets her apart from the pack. On one hand she’s inspired by North African rhythms and the vibrant world of Afrobeats, but the time she spends in London and Los Angeles adds electrifying elements of R&B, rap and hip-hop. She was raised between her homeland of Morocco and Switzerland. It was an upbringing that exposed her to contrasting cultures throughout her childhood, which ultimately also influences her music and vocal style. She left Switzerlandto attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
