Australian artist Hugh Klein is back with his new single ‘Crisp’ with longtime friend and collaborator Komang.
Through graceful melodic lines and soulful vocals, the song explores sentimental and sensual moods, as well as themes of lust and sensuality.
‘Crisp’ “began as an energised production but eventually melted into what became a lush, smooth soundscape”. The piece is filled with carefully arranged vocal harmonies and ad-libs in equal measure, creating a balance of soulful songwriting and jazz inflection.
‘To have Komang on this record was an absolute dream pairing. We have spent the majority of our early careers in and about Melbourne’s music scene performing alongside each other and it felt only natural to be finally collaborating together’ – Hugh Klein
‘Crisp’ came out of a jam session we had one night back in 2019, when we were sharing a studio space together. Hugh and I would often jam until late, and because we’ve been friends for so long, our jams always feel intuitive and full of playful energy. This song holds so many traits that I love about our friendship – full of creative depth and sweetness, and with a shared love of all things jazz, 90s R&B and soulful romance.’ – Komang
‘Crisp’ follows on from previous singles ‘Lead the Way’, ‘Sensitive’ and ‘Quand C’est Mou’.
