Lender
Lender have released their first video for the song “Take Your Time”, a slick, grooving pop song. A smart meditation on life, the clean guitar melody and precise harmonies weave around the rhythm in an mesmerizing dance. Therefore the accompanying video mirrors the same elegance of the song. Rather than depend on a lyric video, Lender has gone the next step in presentation.
As entrancing as the song, the video features the dance company Concept 04 from San Francisco. “Take Your Time” was filmed in a single shot, then played in reverse. The dance performance is a gorgeous pairing with the song, incorporating classical dance moves. The dancers running backwards embody an odd grace. As a result the video feels like a Lynchian Twin Peaks moment. Natasha Adorlee Johnson is the lead dancer in the video and she is stunningly poised and confident in her approach. Natasha is also the director of the video in addition to Max Sachar, an animation manager at Pixar. I thoroughly enjoyed this unique video and I hope to hear and see more from Lender very soon.

Lender is a trio of SF Bay Area natives who started playing music together in high school. Their original sound draws largely on classic rock and jam band influences. Also the band mixes in a wide range of modern and alternative inspirations. The result is a unique blend of styles ranging from heavy psychedelic walls of sound, to soft melodic grooves, to floor pounding funk. Along with a strong rhythm section and catchy guitar riffs, Lender provide interesting lyrics and carefully crafted vocal harmonies. Lender seem to be a mixture of Beck, The Grateful Dead and Radiohead, among many other influences. Since 2014, the band have released two albums.
Their first music video “Take Your Time” will be released in October 2017, and has been accepted into film festivals across the country and abroad. The Mill Valley Film Festival, Austin Music Video Festival, San Francisco Dance Film Festivaland have all run the video.
