‘Killing Me’ is a new and spontaneous edition to the track-list of the Danish singer, songwriter, and producer’s forthcoming new album French Girl Effect (out early 2023), written whilst M.I.L.K was in sun-kissed Marseille, taking a 10-month hiatus from recording the album.
As M.I.L.K explains “During the lockdowns I was constantly in the studio, it overwhelmed me a bit, so I needed to take a break from song writing. Then a few of my friends came to Marseille to hang out and we just fooled around and ended up making ‘Killing Me’. It’s the first song I made for myself in a while, I really re-found joy in writing again. I can hear that in the song, and the melancholy that is infused in the song’s themes, about the challenges of having a relationship that is constantly put on pause because of travel.”
M.I.L.K is the work of Danish artist Emil Wilk who creates uplifting, genre-hopping indie-pop songs, he has released two albums, Always Summer Somewhere (2020) and Poolside Radio Vibes (2021) with over 50 MILLION streams, airplay across Europe, and press coverage worldwide including across major UK and US titles such as Spin, The Rolling Stone, Nowness and NME.
He has collaborated with a wide variety of established and up-coming buzz artists from France’s Benjamin Biolay, Nemir, Møme and The Avener, and international artists including indie-cult figure Benny Sings, Scandinavian alt.pop-star Soleima, pianist prodigy August Rosenbaum, reggae legend Tiken jah Fakoly and Brazilian rap icon Criolo.
‘Killing Me’ is out today on Capitol Records. M.I.L.K.’s new album French Girl Effect follows early 2023.
