American citizen born and raised in Lebanon, singer-songwriter Mayssa Karaa knows first-hand, after 12 years of living in America, the many misconceptions people have about her beautiful native country, where religious tolerance, freedom, a love for music, and warm friendships across all boundaries flourished in her youth. Blessed with a powerful, hypnotic voice and the ability to write captivating songs, Mayssa has joined up with co-writers Richard Jacques and Kyler England to create “Call Me A Stranger” a masterpiece that captures her experience in the most moving of ways.
The song and its stunning video launched a campaign where Mayssa will be releasing one new, powerful, song a month for the next 9 months. Something sure to raise both her profile and the interest in her work and will be debuted at a special December 5th party held at the Capitol Studios in Hollywood, housed within the walls of the historic Capitol Records Tower.
“This song ‘Call Me a Stranger’ describes my search for my identity and the real me. Somehow when I’m in the US I feel like I’m so Lebanese but then when I visit Lebanon I feel like an American and I’m sure that a lot of people who left the countries they grew up in feel the same and that’s when I said: why do we always feel like strangers wherever we go? Hopefully, this song will touch hearts in a positive way.” The video (directed by Columbia Tatone) is also clear to project Mayssa not as a victim, but as the empowered and talented woman she is, making a powerful impact on the world through thought-provoking music and art.
Call Me a Stranger is a very warming song and is filled with amazing tunes and vocals.
Mayssa Karaa did a amazing job and i can’t wait to hear more!
