Rebel Aca & French Monkey Wrench
The names Rebel ACA and French Monkey Wrench would alone attract your attention if seen on a music flyer or bulletin. But when their new single “African James Bond” hits your ears, you’re going to be hooked. Layers of strumming guitars combine with a slow percussive beat that results in a dazzling, unique hip-hop song. The song trips along with a loose, lanky feel as it laments a depressive friend (“You’ve lost your song and I’ve lost a friend”) that is ‘cool’, just like an African James Bond.

As they hope it will reach out to their friend, I feel confident it will reach out to the audience with its positive message and vibe. While hard to define, the songs reaches into reggae roots while still presenting a modern London pop music sound. Definitely don’t miss this groove.

Bio:
Rebel ACA and French Monkey Wrench met nearly 15 years ago, as one managed, and the other produced a funk reggae band. And ever since, their completely opposite nature in almost every way, has kept them attracted. Their real life childhood nicknames happen to be The Bear and The Wolf. No one knows or tends to question why, as it
would make sense if you met them – but yeah. We don’t know which one is which either.
Rebel ACA (The ACA stands for – Anti-clockwise Attitude… ) when in full (arm) swing – can break anything, and French meanwhile is an absolutely inspired fixer – sometimes with his monkey wrench.
French who sleeps under a harpsichord in his tiny flat with him and his daughter, and the Re-bel who never wants to go to sleep – like a young petulant child.
And it would seem that they need each other the Rebel would have no-one to fix his shit. And French would have not enough to do and would start fixing what wasn’t broke. We all know how that’s not supposed to be a good idea at all.
