Reggae-Rock artist, Robert Ranson, will host ‘Still Dreaming,’ an album release concert designed to immerse guests in an up-tempo tropical island experience, reflective of the album’s inspiration. This event, to take place at The Hippodrome on July 20th, 2019, will include a special guest performance by Feel Free, a DC-based reggae band. All attendees will be automatically entered to win a $5000 Sandals Vacation Package redeemable at any Sandals resort; all proceeds will benefit CARITAS, a Richmond-based nonprofit which seeks “to help our most vulnerable neighbors break the cycles of homelessness and addiction to reclaim their dignity.”
Calling to mind the sounds of Steely Dan, Pablo Cruise and Eric Clapton, Robert’s album, ‘Still Dreaming,’ is an inspired effort born largely from his lifelong love of Jamaica. A mesh of rock, reggae, blues, jazz, Afro-Cuban and country, his music resonates in ways that are both personal and profound.
Robert will be joined by a collection of some of Richmond, VA’s most renowned musicians including Jody Boyd on drums, guitarists Dean Berry and James Alexander, bassist Audie Stanley, Nate Brown on keyboards, celebrated percussionist Kevin Davis, and backing vocalists Marna Bales and Leetah Stanley.
Seeking to make a local impact through the ‘Still Dreaming’ album release concert, Robert selected CARITAS as the event’s charitable partner, as their mission is one he personally holds dear having lost his son to addiction.
“Robert understands our mission and has already supported us in other ways,” says CARITAS CEO Karen Stanley. “We’re so glad he is using his art to raise awareness of our work. We can’t wait to join the community for this exciting event!”
The ‘Still Dreaming’ Album Release Event will take place Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 7-11:30 p.m. at The Hippodrome Theater.
