Fresh off the back of her debut “Strawberry Milkshake”, a single that received praise from tastemakers far and wide including BBC Radio 1’s Clara Amfo, Greg James and national treasure Sam Fender, SOFY releases the second exciting instalment to her EP “Lads! Lads! Lads!”
Speaking on the track, SOFY explains; “‘Lads! Lads! Lads!’ was a totally off the cuff idea, inspired by a conversation I had with Robb and Amie (Gold Spectacles) after I showed them the ‘4 Lads in Jeans’ meme (see here). The song brings to life some important messages about lad culture and toxic masculinity but in a light-hearted way with a bit more of a tongue-in-cheek delivery, using humour to call out problematic behaviours like catcalling. I’m really proud of the way we were able to weave the two together and it’s probably my favourite track on the whole project.”
Leicester-raised rising star, SOFY, started work on her rapidly growing collection of head- bobbing, foot-tapping tracks just last year. Within 6 months of having written her first ever song, the 24-year-old had surpassed over 10,000 other entrants to become a finalist in BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge’s nationwide talent search and was counting the likes of YUNGBLUD, Sam Fender, Arlo Parks, Celeste, and Tom Grennan among her fans.
Upon release of her debut single, ‘Strawberry Milkshake‘ in September, the song was listed as Radio 1 Introducing Track of The Week. SOFY was also featured on the Introducing show and received multiple plays on Future Artists with Jack Saunders, along with support from Spotify, Apple, and numerous publications globally, such as Notion, Wonderland & Lyrical Lemonade.
SOFY‘s incredible live shows have also been quickly earning a reputation – particularly as audiences are introduced to her lightning-fast humour and the utterly infectious energy of her and her band.
