SOFY – Big Talk

Brit-pop is back and it’s sounding better than ever with the recent rise of the irresistibly cheeky SOFY and her moreish singles, further cemented by forthcoming release ‘Big Talk’. Landing amidst SOFY’s debut festival season, which has seen her overspill tents across some of the biggest UK festivals, including the iconic Glastonbury (watch here), Truck Festival, Latitude, Boardmasters and The Great Escape, the track has already resonated across euphoric crowds chanting back another chorus of anthemic potential.

Echoing the woozy nonchalance of her debut EP ‘Bored in Colour (Pt. 1)’, ‘Big Talk’ is just as effortlessly cool in its delivery as SOFY meanders around conversations of small talk on dating apps, with her signature sarcastic undertone permeating the mundane exchanges that often take place in the early stages.

Having only surfaced in the past 12-months, the reception to SOFY has been more than warm. Tastemakers across the media world have already triumphed her innovative sound and her ability to intricately weave playful lyricism with relatable themes, with support from Clash Magazine, Notion, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland Magazine, tmrw mag and Fred Perry.

The successes of her debut EP ‘Bored In Colour (Pt. 1)’ were quickly supplemented by a Radio 1 track of the week for her debut single ‘Strawberry Milkshake’, a debut headline show at The Social, sold-out 8-weeks in advance, and being shortlisted for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition which later saw SOFY play at the festival itself on two stages. Sitting alongside the release of ‘Big Talk’, SOFY will be playing at Lords Cricket Ground as part of BBC Introducing’s collaboration with The Hundred and closing off the summer at Leeds Festival.

‘Big Talk’ lands as the first instalment to SOFY’s second project, ‘Bored in Colour (Pt. 2)’, set to release later this year, alongside her next headline show at Omeara, London on November 30th – tickets here
