Susie Q
The new video from Irish musician/songwriter Susie Q contains a powerful message of peace. As well the song sheds light on the growing refugee problem surrounding the globe. Her debut track “Home” hearkens back to the softer side of fellow Limerick singer Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries), a gentle, flowing ballad with ethereal vocals. Also, the video, constructed of clips and images of refugees, will not fail to stir your heart.
“The song is a reminder that whatever your race or religion, we are all one people, and together share this planet as our home. I think it’s important to remind ourselves of our shared humanity during these turbulent times. It can sometimes be easy to see each other as separate, but fundamentally we are all connected.” she said about the song.
Her gentle voice creates a perfect vehicle for the track as she subtly entertains while urgently delivering her message. In addition, the backing band are simply excellent, providing a solid rhythm section, culled from Lir and the Frames. “Home” becomes a timely reminder that not all of us are ensconced in our comfortable homes with the proper heating and lighting, plenty of food and fewer worries than most across the planet.

Bio:
Limerick-born Irish musician, singer and songwriter Susie Q, otherwise known as Susan Quirke, has been fine-tuning her craft for years. The result is Into the Sea, her debut album to be released later in 2018.
The album features an all-star line-up, and marries elements of high-octane indie rock with tracks that have an ethereal sensibility. The album was written in northern California, in Spanish Point in Clare and at her home near Bull Island in Dublin.
Susie Q’s soulful voice brings a raw emotional charge to evocative song. This includes the stirring track “Home”, a song that explores the refugee crisis and topics of migration, meaning and hope.
She co-produced the album with fellow Irish artist Colm Quearney currently a member of Squarepegs. Quearney features extensively on the album, alongside fellow former Lír bass player Rob Malone, and members of legendary Irish indie band The Frames. The album was recorded in Quearney’s studio ‘the Qube,’ and at Fiachra Trench’s ‘Meadows’ studio. Engineered by Ruth Kennington, and mixed and mastered by Grammy award winner Dave Odlum at his studio, the album is due out in 2018.
Susie Q has previously played at the Electric Picnic and Body&Soul festivals as well as opening for the Dalai Lama. Keeping a low profile in recent years, she concentrates on making an album that will stand the test of time.
