Thirsty Curses Releases Dark Xmas Single

The prolific and eclectic North Carolina-based rock ‘n roll outfit, Thirsty Curses, is out with a unique, gypsy-influenced version of the classic Christmas song “Holly Jolly Christmas,” which is available via Spotify, iTunes, Bandcamp, and wherever music can be streamed. Unlike the original “Holly Jolly Christmas”, which obtained its status among the American Christmas music canon through its placement in the 1964 Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer stop-go animation Christmas special, Thirsty Curses’ version of “Holly Jolly Christmas” sounds like a blend between Beirut and Leonard Cohen and possesses a dark, angry tone which speaks to those who aren’t particularly enamored with the Christmas season.

“Holly Jolly Christmas” is the first release from Thirsty Curses since its sophomore album, All Shook Up, which was released in August 2018. As Alternative Addiction raved, “The band has an eclectic sound that touches on everything from punk rock to folk. They sound like a cross between the Avett Brothers and Rise Against. On their new album that diverse sound is delightfully all over the place. For the first time in a while, we listened through the album and struggled to choose which song to pick as the Indie Song of the Day because it’s all pretty damn good.”

Dying Scene similarly praised the band, stating, “As schizophrenic as their genre influences seems to be, the one common denominator is that I dig every single track I’m hearing.”

Thirsty Curses’ new Christmas single “Holly Jolly Christmas” is available wherever music can be streamed or downloaded, as are Thirsty Curses’ previous releases Holy Moly (2017), All Shook Up (2018), and “Stonewashed 80s Jeans” (2017).  For more information, email or phone Wilson Getchell at thirstycurses@gmail.com or 703-314-9410, respectively, or visit www.thirstycurses.com or facebook.com/ThirstyCurses
