Gareth Evans, also known as Undersound is a hyper-talented musician and producer. Initially born in Haverfordwest (Wales, UK), he now resides in Cardiff. He is set to release his brand new single, featuring Bella Collins ‘All I Really Need’. The track is taken from his forthcoming album, ‘Infinite Wishes’ which will be released on all streaming platforms on the 2nd of September.
Gareth first took up music at the age of five starting on the piano before expanding to French horn, guitar, drums, trumpet, tuned percussion, cello and flute. He has played in various symphony/chamber orchestras and smaller ensembles in venues worldwide including; The Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, The Kennedy Centre (Washington, D.C.), The Royal Festival Hall, Cathedral Basilica Newark in New York, and Queen Elizabeth Hall.
He has gone on to play in various musical theatre shows with bands such as the Blood Brothers, Joseph and has supported acts that include Vanessa Mae, The BBC Big Band, Rolf Harris and Elkie Brooks. He also ran a Ska punk band between ’92-02 that reached #1 in the European Ska charts supporting bands including Reel Big Fish and Save Ferris, and is currently in a Jazz duo with the super talented singer Bella Collins who are regulars at the Brecon Jazz Festival and Aber Jazz Festival, and recently played at The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in Colne.
Gareth has completed various jobs for TV including edits for Britain’s Got Talent show, Sky One’s Got To Dance and has had many tracks featured on Freesports on 4. He has also written original scores for various theatre productions, including the award-winning stage adaption of Rachel Trezise’s book Tonypandemonium with the National Theatre Wales, and more recently a stage adaptation of John Steinbeck’s ‘Of Mice And Men’ which had a two-week sell-out run in Cardiff’s famous Chapter Arts Centre in Autumn 2017. Gareth started producing drum and bass in 2005 after being invited to participate in some instrumental session work for High Contrast on his ‘Tough Guys Don’t Dance’ LP, and other prominent drum and bass artists such as Blame, Netsky, John B and Spy.
As a drum and bass artist, Evans has released over a hundred tracks on a variety of labels gaining worldwide DJ and radio support, including London Electricity, Friction and Huw Stephens (BBC Radio One), DJ Lord (Public Enemy), alongside receiving regular support from Adam Walton (BBC Wales). He is currently in a drum and bass duo named Casey Jones, with tracks signed to Ram Records and Technique Recordings. Casey Jones has played a number of high-profile shows with DJs including Andy C, Chase & Status, Wilkinson, and Sub Focus to name a few.
‘Infinite Wishes’ takes you on a journey through many musical soundscapes and genres, with sounds inspired by jazz, soul, funk, contemporary classical, hip-hop, pop, world music and more. The album features a host of super-talented collaborators including, Bella Collins, Francesca Dimech, Sarah Meek, Adam Redmore, Nicki Rose, Ben Thorpe and Shane Dixon.
