Yvan Poisson
Laying down some intricate tunes, Yvan Poisson creates a seductive world that is thought-provoking and entertaining. His latest release Blind Experiment explores a minimalistic sound that at times is somewhat abstract. Yet tracks like “Threshold Dose” and “Negative Control Procedure” still engage on a surface level as well, especially with melodic basslines and the interjection of occasional horns. I particularly liked the title track with its deep grooving bass combined with syncopated percussion passages.
Yvan describes the new EP: “With this EP I continue exploring the possibilities from granular sampling, this is where the sounds come from, except for the beats and the bass lines. Once again this is music for the audio enthusiasts ; you simply won’t enjoy it listening through a poor sound system with no deep bass and at a low volume. This only shines when you are in an appropriate listening situation (and mind). Also, this is not instrumental hip hop and it is not intended for people to rap on it, so please don’t judge it in this way.”
The music truly requires you to listen, not slide on for a trip hop dance session. Save this one for those rare solitary moments you may have to gain a full appreciation of the sound quality.
Artist Biography:
