Sam Rochford
Singer/Songwriter Sam Rochford had her country single “So Easy” head up the charts earlier this year. After that laid back, acoustic-oriented song, Sam is now going to write a song, as well as present a new video, every day in October. The best place to start is the beginning, where she explains her rationale for this daunting task. October 1 featured “Spatula”, a muse on the aftermath of a breakup that features her expressive voice and acoustic guitar. Moving through the first week, the songs range from the deeply personal (“Short Man”) to story telling (“Uncomfortable”). What all the songs have in common are real commitment to the song writing process, a learning attitude and the willingness to sometimes not present the song for personal reasons.
My favorite song so far was presented on October 5th: “The Most”, a folksy ballad that reminded me of the Weavers. October 6 features “My Favorite Murder”, a tribute to a favorite podcast. With her great voice and accomplished playing, I’m looking forward to the rest of the month (and her video-bombing cat).
