ELLIPHANT SHARES THE NEW SINGLE ‘THERAPY’

Swedish singer-songwriter and rapper Elliphant’s caustic electronica and fiery, self-empowered attitude has made a go-to collaborator for some of music’s biggest names, including DiploDoja CatSkrillexMajor LazerDavid Guetta and Tove Lo. Now Elliphant isn’t slowing down – instead her music is bigger, tougher and more outspoken than ever before, as demonstrated by her brand new single ‘THERAPY’, which is out now.

‘THERAPY’ presents Elliphant’s agenda with scolding intensity. Its beats land like knock-out punches, distorted trap synths further amplify its ragged aggression, and Elliphant fires its lyrics out like a punk rock rapper. Lyrically it trades her previous collective social ideals for an expression of deeply individual personal experiences. The track was written by Elliphant, produced by Johan Wedel and mixed by Richard Silver.

Elliphant says, “‘THERAPY’ is a statement track. It splashed out of me like diarrhoea on a wet night, during the last hour in the studio. I think it’s a manifestation of my journey towards better mental health. Lol.”

‘THERAPY’ provides a first taste of Elliphant’s upcoming fourth album ‘TROLL’. It is a raw and uncompromising cocktail of electronic punk, grime and hip-hop, an album that finds the common ground between darkness, vehement rage and pure unadulterated fun. Its prime influence is her recent motherhood, which she channels by expressing intense love for her daughter, as well as the primal instinct to protect and to provide for her.

Prior to becoming a multi-Platinum international artist, Elliphant was raised by her single mother in Stockholm. The local area was rife with violence and substance abuse, which led young Elliphant to look to shape her own destiny. She started working in a restaurant kitchen to get the money together to drop-out and discover herself in India. That journey shaped the possibility of music becoming her future, which she further explored by immersing herself in the techno scenes in Stockholmand Los Angeles as well as the UK’s dubstep underground.

Her debut single ‘Tekkno Scene’ was her breakthrough moment and countless huge achievements have since followed: countless major collaborations; three studio albums; headline tours across EuropeUSA and South America, plus festivals including GlastonburyReadingCoachella and Roskilde. She even won an ARIA Award for Song of the Year after featuring on Peking Duk’s ‘Stranger’Elliphant’s music is also in demand for soundtracks, so far including ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’‘Pretty Little Liars’‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Billions’‘Shrinking’ and ‘Hotel Transylvania 4’, and for campaigns from brands such as Apple, VolvoNetflix and Huawei.
