Anna Cordell Releases Debut Album ‘Nobody Knows Us’

Anna Cordell today releases her much-anticipated debut album, ‘Nobody Knows Us’ – a collection of darkly intimate and poetic songs that range from rich, acoustic chamber-folk to ethereal ballads.

‘Nobody Knows Us’ is a record that draws you in closely, branded with a powerful emotional depth that is worn proudly on its sleeve.

Following the incredible support of singles YouNobody Knows Us, and Tried So Hard, including features with Frankie MagazineBandcampThe Music3RRRTriple JDouble JRTR and SYN, we’re thrilled to announce that Anna’s album has also been named Album Of The Week on both PBS and 2SER radio.

Anna Cordell will be celebrating the success of ‘Nobody Knows Us’ by playing a series of intimate launch shows this February and March, with her band in tow.

Anna Cordell has always been a ‘maker’. From her youngest years spent singing and writing folk songs on her nylon string guitar, to the first stitches of her clothing design work, and all the way into motherhood, Cordell has a natural flair for creation.

After taking an almost decade long hiatus from music making – a period in which she became a mother to five children and began working on her now thriving clothing label – Anna is now making her return to music, set to release her first full-length record ‘Nobody Knows Us’ on Valentine’s Day 2020.

Recorded in Lyttleton, New Zealand by Ben Edwards (Aldous Harding, Marlon Williams, Julia Jacklin) ‘Nobody Knows Us‘ is an album that wears its heart on its sleeve.

Taking inspiration from folk writers of the 60s and 70s, from Sandy Denny to Nick Drake and Sibylle Baier, as well as more contemporary counterparts like Midlake and Weyes Blood, Anna has created a collection of songs that stay true to her belief in the value and power of art.

Following her solo performances earlier this year, Cordell’s album launch shows will see her performance expand to a variety of different configurations – duo, trio, full band and very occasionally, a string section.
