Cam Be Releases Summer in September

Chicago-based musician Cam Be returns with his sophomore album Summer in September, released on all streaming platforms on December 1, 2020. Summer in September is an impressive follow-up to his 2018 solo debut 7 Steps to 7. Both feature an ensemble of Chicago artists and musicians who use music to explore life through the themes of joy and sorrow. In light of the 2020 events, Summer in September celebrates Black
American life marrying the sounds of funk, soul and hip-hop for a symphonic blend that has become the unique sound of this multi-hyphenate artist.

The album takes the audience through the experience of a cookout over several tracks from the opening that welcomes with a soulful bounce and upbeat tempo to the end of the album which captures the bittersweet feeling of season’s end. Summer in September is marinated in long-established melodies, adding an electrifying twist to create something entirely new. The blending of genres feel more powerful as Cam Be uses his irresistible upbeat tones and poetic lyrics, to inspire you to celebrate. The smooth and rhythmic beats of the ten track album will make you miss live performances as each of the vocals and instruments all find their way to shine.

Self produced with only two songs co-produced by Khrysis and INTLMC, Summer in September features an impressive number of co-collaborators. Together, Sam Trump’s horn vibrantly colors the album, while Joshua Griffin leaves an irresistible groove on bass, and Chris Paquette pushes the rhythm with congas and percussion. This group of musicians provide a cohesive sound with additions by Aaron Day (Guitar), Larry Brown Jr. (Guitar), Kenneth Leftridge Jr. (Saxophone & Flute), William Kirk (Keys), Charlie Coffin (Rhodes), Jon Content and Tim Perkins (Synth), and Briana Clearly (Background Vocals).
