Daphne Guinness has today shared remixes of her current single, ‘Hip Neck Spine’, from the extraordinary Hercules & Love Affair, the ever evolving project created by songwriter and DJ Andy Butler.
Released through Agent Anonyme Recordings and featuring Dub, Extended and Radio Versions, the Hercules & Love Affair mixes elegantly flip Guinness’s original, with echoes of Amanda Lear and ZE Records, into a pumping, Italo-disco infused journey through cosmic sonics and celestial bliss. Keeping the original’s hypnotic vocal work at the forefront, Hercules & Love Affair inject their signature production, shifting ‘Hip Neck Spine’ into pure club-bumping territory.
The first new music from Daphne Guinness in three years, ‘Hip Neck Spine features strings scored by the all-time great Tony Visconti and comes lifted from Daphne’s forthcoming new album ‘Sleep’, due for release late 2023. It’s accompanied by an official video directed by the visionary photographer and director Nick Knight of SHOWStudio. The new single follows Daphne’s 2022 appearances as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and at London’s V&A Museum for their ‘In Conversation’ series.
