FAST DE releases new album “Sight Inside”

Dutch composer and bassist Daniël Eskens has released his much anticipated debut album “Sight Inside”.

Having cut his teeth playing in various indie and jazz outfits such as Jo Goes Hunting, Opera Alaska, and Karsu, the album marks his first solo outing after years spent composing and experimenting in his studio. The album is out now via independent Amsterdam label, Bloomer Records (Nana Adjoa, Future Husband, Micro Talk + more).

Combining a diverse array of influences—from Billy Strayhorn to Soulwax, Bela Bartok to Brian Wilson—Eskens’ sound culminates in something that is entirely borderless, bridging glitchy electronic music, avant-jazz, modern psych, and alt-pop.

To mark the album’s release, FAST DE have shared a new track titled “Hopelijk”. A dynamic track based on one repeating pattern. Eskens says “it comes from a deep feeling of playful energy; like a kid jumping around and getting more and more excited.” The repetitive pattern evolves as the track continues, transforming from melodic instrumentation into percussion breaks, before evolving into a new melody which eventually ends up in a spirited guitar solo.

Just ahead of the album’s release, FAST DE also shared the albums titled track “Sight Inside”. The single saw the band continue to push the envelope of their borderless sound combining effected basslines, with hook-driven guitars, astral synths, and deceptively intricate drum breaks.

“Sight Inside” followed the release of FAST DE’s debut single “Miss Trutti Finally Found Her Gem”, which was announced earlier this year alongside an innovative visual, which was created by audio-visual composer and software developer Tarik Barri, who is known for his work collaborating with artists like Thom Yorke, Paul Jebanasam, Nicolas Jaar, and Robert Henke.
