Vancouver and LA-based self-proclaimed “dirt pop” duo Gone Sugar Die have premiered a video for “Candy Is A Heartthrob,” the latest single from their upcoming “Blaack Heaart” EP.
Led by bassist Mike Hindert (fmr. The Bravery) and singer/guitarist Patrick McWilliams (fmr. The Cut Losses), Gone Sugar Die haven’t made activism an explicit part of their raw synth pop brand, but “Candy” showcases McWilliams’ experiences both volunteering for Vancouver non-profit Covenant House and interacting regularly with the homelessness and drug crises in the city.
