Following their mysterious appearance with singles ‘Celebrate’ and ‘Tubes’, the elusive Lee Bowie return with their unique fusion of electro-pop in the form of single ‘Jesus’.
The track, with true Lee bowie energetic bounce, continues to pave the duo their very own path in pop with their spikey exuberance and distinct vocal flare, with subtle echoes towards Marina, formerly Marina and the Diamonds.
Further proving themselves as an act to keenly keep eyes on as they move forward towards their highly anticipated debut album release, we expect ‘Jesus’ to erupt with similar excitement as their previous releases.
Sharing the inspirations behind the track, the duo recount; “Jesus is the ultimate good guy in every story and is smart, kind and always pays for dinner. The story of Mr. Christ is also most likely fictional and because of that, he is as cool as the writers want him to be. That in turn makes him a kinda strange ideal to hammer into people, because we’re just people and we generally have bigger issues than some dude with a pen running out of ink and that may mess up our attempts at becoming angels.
The aura around Lee Bowie is alluring. Their ability to create gorgeous music from their everyday conversations – ranging from sexism and injustice to disappointing sexual encounters – is a special one, coming from a place of organic chemistry. On one hand quirky and cheeky and on the other hand serious, their relatability has created and will continue to create fans.
Everything they do is for a reason. They’re always looking to challenge the status quo and if ‘Tubes’ is anything to go by, they are doing their bit to make the world a better place.
