ELECTROPOP ARTIST LEV RETURNS WITH A NEW SINGLE

LEV wants to celebrate. The indie electro pop artist released her first new music in two years, and the song may be her most personal work yet. “It Was U” is the result of a four-year artistic and personal journey that began with the artist escaping label drama and ended with her finding a new sound.

“My new singles are on topics I haven’t written about much in the past, so I am showing a more vulnerable side of myself,” she says. “This whole year is about being more vulnerable with fans, friendsand family, and I’m letting that come through in my songwriting.

”LEV, whose real name is Holly Peyton, enjoyed a rapid start to her career. In 2015, her lush vocals and throwback pop sound earned her well-deserved nominations Best Pop Act and “Best EP” at the Dallas ObserverMusic Awards.

She followed that up by racking up over 1 million views with music videos on YouTube, and earning additional recognition from the Central TrackMusic Honors. Her career took an unexpected turn in 2016, when label drama delayed her long-awaited full-length album. Yet LEV bounced back, focusing her sights on personal growth and an enhanced dance sound that modern pop fans and lovers of 70s and 80s music will undoubtedly enjoy.“I have been in search of a producer that I have chemistry with, someone that understands me and my process,” LEV says. She found that with producer Josh Goode.

LEV wrote the song that would become “It Was U” on her piano, and took it into the studio with Goode, where the duo made it into the catchy, powerful pop song listeners will hear on March 17.
