LISTEN TO EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH LUMEN CRAFT

Brazilian electronic-indie three-piece Lumen Craft will be releasing their latest single, “Stranger”, via Natasha Records on the 18th January 2019. Featured in a slew of top Spotify playlists and as well as in acclaimed publications such as Folha de  São Paulo,  Brazil’s  widest reaching  newspaper, MTV‘s Monkeybuzz, the blog of multi-billion dollar company Converse and Brazil’s most in-demand music guide, Popload Sessions; Lumen Craft continue to go from strength to strength. The band have an infectious live presence and have performed for the prestigious Sofar Sound Latin America in 2016, at one of the biggest indie festivals in Brazil, MECA Inhotim Festival, in 2017, INNER multi.art events, and have been hand-picked to play at Brazil’s Rock The Mountain 2018 next month, where they will be sharing a stage with Brazilian stars Planet Hemp and BaianaSystem. In the past the trio have performed alongside a host of acclaimed artists, including Brazilian music legend Jorge Ben Jor, London alt-pop duo Oh Wonder and Aussie electropop outfit Miami Horror.

Currently based in the bustling metropolis of Sao Paulo, Lumen Craft is made up of producer Ceah Pagotto, guitarist Noah Guper and singer John Evans. While all three members of the group have always been surrounded by music in their homes, it was in London that they discovered their mutual passion for experimenting with sound and writing the infectious electronic-infused music that they are known for today. Lumen Craft are the offspring of a city as warm as their music and prismatic as their performances, and the cosmopolitan energy that they exude can be traced back to the city of lights and sounds that nurtured them.

Although Lumen Craft draw from an eclectic mix of sources when it comes to inspiration, such as Little Dragon, SBTRKT, James Blake, alt-J, Four Tet, Flying Lotus and many more, what their influences hold in common is a pop optimism, an experimental edge and a glittering quirkiness. When it comes to their own sound, Lumen Craft could be compared to soulful indie heroes like Bob Moses, Metronomy and Electric Guest.

“Stranger” draws the listener in with a funky bassline and sexy guitar solos, preparing us for vocalist John Evans‘ bluesy crooning. Retro-inspired synth sounds add an undoubtable quirkiness to the track’s sensual groove, while crisp beats and bass cuts make sure “Stranger” could resonate with any modern audience. The piece is a dance-floor triumph, oozing all the right parts of the 70’s and 80’s, while effortlessly staying slick and fresh.

On their brand new single, “Stranger”, Lumen Craft explain, “It’s an invitation to the unknown, a guide to unexplored lands. It’s an affirmation of identity, surrendering the soul to the course of destiny. Let the mind flow and enjoy the ride.”
