Phillip Broussard
Coming straight from the military, Phillip Broussard is releasing his debut EP, Wavelength, for MTS soon. This five-song recording features Phillip in an acoustic setting that highlights his deft guitar work. The first single, “Just Wanna Believe”, is an honest portrayal of unrequited love. Clean, crisp guitar playing accompanies the well-crafted, emotional lyrics. “Best Friend” is a gentle, relaxed ballad, while “All Over Again” is a more upbeat story song with nice guitar flourishes that are very Michael Hedges-like. His guitar practice in his off-time while overseas has served him well, very accomplished and professional. His voice has a poignant quality that won’t leave you soon. An enjoyable debut!

Phillip Broussard discovered his passion early in life, when his father brought home a guitar. What started as just a few chords, ignited a desire to want to share his new-found passion with the world. Born and raised in Washington State, Phillip grew up under the influence of several artists that his father idolized, including Pink Floyd, James Taylor, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton.
Tragedy struck at 18 years old when Phillip’s father, grandfather and uncle passed away within 6 months of each other. Phillip enlisted in the United States Navy, to quell his grief. Early on in his Naval career, someone handed Phillip a copy of John Mayer’s CD, Room for Squares. This album reignited Phillip’s passion for the guitar after a hiatus, due to the loss of his family members. After his time in the military, Phillip sporadically played gigs in the San Diego area. He relocated to Washington State, where he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. Phillip’s music stylings have a darker tone, but range from the Blues to Pop tunes. When Phillip is not playing music, he earns a living as the owner of a general contracting business in Pierce County, Washington.
