Melding her hybrid of electronica, moody pop and R&B, QUAILS reveals her honest new single ‘Origami’.
Opening with stark piano and vocals, ‘Origami’ quickly swells in texture and pace, employing layers of synths, haunting vocals, piano stabs and urgent, syncopated beats. The intensity and exasperation of the track mimics the subject matter, highlighting the mystifying sense of loss.
Reflecting on the single, QUAILS explains “Origami examines the delicate and muffled struggle of one person’s affection of another.” Continuing she says “The references to origami conjure a sense of beautifully intricate, complex and delicate forms, which have retreated from being open to intimacy and instead have shut it out completely.”
Not one to short change fans, alongside ‘Origami’ QUAILS has released an ambient remix by Me Again and an acoustic version.
The multi-talented singer/songwriter/producer emerged in 2016 with her debut self-titled EP, single tracks ‘High Hopes’ and ‘With You’ were standouts picking up radio and club plays, alongside syncs in hit TV shows ‘Lucifer’, MTV’s ‘Catfish’ and ‘The Wrong Girl’. Last year she celebrated the release of her sophomore EP ‘Worlds’ with praise from Yen Mag, Tone Deaf, Insomniac and Pilerats.
