Riot in the Attic

Steeped in the influences of the hard rock 70s while drawing stimuli from modern bands, German band Riot in the Attic sound like a modern-day Uriah Heep.  Just released, their double EP Under the Sun straddles the line between hard rock and metal. With their clean, yet ragged vocals and thunderous guitar riffs, the band rages through seven hard-rocking tracks. Powerful songs like “Floating” and “Incomplete” remain in the memory long, with their thudding bassline and strong vocals interplaying with the distinctive guitar work.

I especially liked “Men in Shades”, a slower paced song that hits you with a wallop before they kick into high gear. “Sunny” also struck me as an old-style Heep song like “July Morning”, alternating the pace and rhythm to achieve an epic feel. They wind up the EP with a scorching version of the Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down” , just a tad louder than you’d expect! If you’re into Black Label Society or Queens of the Stone Age, this may just be the ticket for you.

Riot in the Attic was established 2014 in Cologne (Germany) and has taken up the cause of stoner rock & roll. Both their first EP “lost & found” and their intense live performances show the quality of this band. In addition, they are getting used to big stages supporting bands like Black Pussy (USA) and playing on music festivals such as Rockaue Festival 2016. A double music video for the songs “Rollercoaster” and “Keep It Inside” was published in August 2016.  Furthermore it serves as the transition to their second EP and its respective tour. Those who love bands like Monster Truck, The Brew, Black Label Society and Stone Temple Pilots shouldn´t miss RIOT IN THE ATTIC!
