SHIRINA Releases ‘Wild’ Single

 

 

Shirina is a young singer/songwriter who has made a name for herself through busking around Sydney’s CBD. Her recent releases have surprised supporters and have received wonderful feedback with many praising her genre ambiguity and exploration.

Wild was inspired by Tash Sultana, one of Shirina’s favourite artists. She wrote it traditional Sultana style using a loop pedal and frequently plays it while busking. While most of the parts were produced herself, the guitars were done by Mike Wyatt, a talented guitarist that co-produced ‘Why Don’t You Love Me Like I Love You’, ‘Nature To Kill’ and ‘Feeling Feelings’. 

The song is motivational and talks about having that ‘fire’ within yourself to get through any ups and downs one might face. A quote from Shirina herself, further explains this: “I wrote this song over a year ago and at that time I was in a really horrible place where I had people doubting my potential to make it in the music industry. I was just so young and there was so much I couldn’t do, or didn’t know how to do I guess. This song was just a way for me to kind of say to myself ‘hang on, there is no way in hell we’re going to just take that and give up. Time to work hard and prove those idiots wrong.”

Wild is filled with cool guitar riffs, haunting backing vocals and hard hitting electronic drums (all written by Shirina herself). The chill vibes will not only have you grooving along but hopefully give a sense of inner motivation as well.  

From a very young age of 12, she was busking on the streets of Sydney and doing various live performances around the state. She has made a name for herself through her regular busking around the CBD and is now focusing on original music. 

Shirina consistently surprises supporters by delving into various music genres ranging from Amy Winehouse inspired jazz, to rock n roll, to soulful retro 70’s and finally to a Tash Sultana inspired indie electronic track. She continues to stay busy working with various producers on numerous things including a highly anticipated EP and collaborations with other artists. She hopes to reach more people with her music this year and continue doing what she loves.
