Russian band Sinoptik unveils their latest single “Standalone Syndrome”, an old school rocker that merges the modern rock idiom with a 70s metal-like feel.  With gritty riffs, explosive percussion and clean vocals, the song is a worthy followup to “White Cats”.  Rather like Muse, the band features guitar solos that build in intensity as the rhythm section bursts with energy.  Understated keys flow throughout the melody, leaving the powerful guitars room to fill the soundscape.  Also, their heavy, bluesy sound hearkens bears a resemble to the early days of Led Zeppelin or Grand Funk Railroad.

Lead singer/guitarist Dima explains “This story is about the hardship of being yourself in this reality. Reality itself can leave just a tiny ghost in your identity. You did all you possibly can, and still you didn’t get anywhere near your aim. But you will find your inner strength to move forward. With the help of your close ones.”

The band SINOPTIK first formed in Donetsk in 2011. Almost three years ago, they were forced to leave their home city by the war and venture forth in search of a new home. In 2016, they won the Global Battle of the Bands in Berlin and received the lofty title of “Best New Band in the World.” Now they tour all over Europe. Although the band has existed very briefly their story dramatic story is one of the most intriguing in the musical life of contemporary Ukraine. The band’s spirit was forged by the war in Eastern Ukraine. Incorporating a mix of the 2000s and the 1960s, the band embodies three generations of rock ‘n’ roll in one shot.  SINOPTIK’s front man – Dmitriy Sinoptik, lived in England for a long time.  There he recorded two albums with the British band The Wow Signal and singer Penny Foster. His own records were published by Gean Pool Universal. In addition, Dmitriy played at dozens of British festivals.  Also, he played on one stage with Iggy Pop.
