Electronic Maestro THE ILLUSTRATED MAN to release ‘Dance of Shadows’ single with Sasha Carassi

In a collaboration for the ages, THE ILLUSTRATED MAN and Sasha Carassi team up for the release of their ‘Dance of Shadows’ single featuring Berlin-based electronic artist Aquarius Heaven, released on 8 May via ILINX. The single has been taken from THE ILLUSTRATED MAN‘s debut album, The Skin Of Time, set for release on 12 June. The artist emerged as a prominent new force in the electronic scene, garnering support from industry heavyweights like Adriatique, Bedouin, Township Rebellion, Richie Hawtin, and Joris Voorn. His unique sound has resonated on a global scale, with notable appearances on platforms such as BBC Radio 1 and Ibiza Global Radio. 

Born in Yerevan, Armenia, and currently based in Dubai, THE ILLUSTRATED MAN initially arose as a fusion of cinema, visual art, and literary science fiction. Drawing inspiration from Ray Bradbury’s iconic work, The Illustrated Man, the artist embodies a symbol of ever-evolving narratives, etched not onto skin as in Bradbury’s story, but into sound. His productions unfold like immersive stories, intricately layered with tension, emotion, and an alluring sense of the unknown. Each track is crafted with intention, designed to resonate not just in the ears but to be felt deep within the soul. Behind the decks, The Illustrated Man seamlessly channels this energy into his electrifying performances – with his sets coming alive, surging, and breathing with a rhythm.

Sasha Carassi started his musical journey as a DJ in the 90’s and quickly became a heavyweight producer after the release of his debut album in 2002. Sasha is highly respected and admired within the electronic music industry. Not just for his work ethic, knowledge or impressive skills, but also for his ability to take risks with his sound and artistry. Sasha adds, “I love listening to everything, I’m inspired by a lot of different things, from Burial to Daft Punk, David Bowie and Aphex Twin“. 

Mysterious, muffled synth-stabs kick off in the first seconds of ‘Dance of Shadows’, as an ethereal choir of vocals by featured artist Aquarius Heaven is introduced, accompanied by a driving kick-led rhythm section. The track was co-produced, mixed, and mastered by collaborator extraordinaire Sasha Carassi at his studio in Naples, Italy. Listeners will find themselves swept into a palpable sense of movement as the duo masterfully navigate the ebb and flow of storytelling on this track. 

THE ILLUSTRATED MAN describes ‘Dance of Shadows’ as “A hypnotic and fluid movement where groove emerges, enriched by soulful and expressive vocals.” Adding that “Time does not pass, it transforms. What remains is not what happened, but what it became within us.”
