With his new EP Life Is …, Tony Goffredi has delivered a powerfully emotional album of acoustic tunes. Not unlike Will Ackermann or Michael Hedges of Windham Hill fame, the guitar work is absolutely gorgeous, particularly on the instrumental track “I Am Just An Ant”. This song is an elegant exercise in ambience that draws you in with the simplicity of the melody, but still entrances with its complex playing.

Even more entrancing are the vocal and guitar compositions with their lyrics of love, loss and painful experiences.  “Sleeping Alone” stands out as the most impactful track.  His voice is smooth, but careful vocal nuances reveal the urgency & emotion of the lyrics.  The tale of lost love, “What Can I Say”, is enhanced by the addition of acoustic bass under the primary melody.  His delivery convinces you that these are no mere tales, but real experiences and impressions.

Rounded out with “An Ocean Away” and “Broken Glass”, Life Is … is one of the most consistent, satisfying EPs that I’ve heard I quite a while.

Tony Goffredi has over 14 years of experience on acoustic and electric guitars and 7 years of experience instructing guitar. He’s fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese and taught foreign language with Denver Public Schools before becoming a full-time musician.

He began as an electric guitar player with heavy influences from the Guns n’ Roses and AC/DC catalog. In college, Tony played in the band Tony G and the Cure for Cancer. After graduating, he put his minor in Mandarin (Chinese) to use—moving to Shanghai, China and working as a tour guide. While living abroad, he switched to predominantly acoustic and began writing lyrics to accompany his songs.

He’s been playing gigs in the Denver area for over 5 years in various capacities as a solo artist, with a duo group, or with his bands—the latest of which is One Way Ride.  Tony has played sandwich shops, cafes, breweries, dive bars, big stages, weddings, parties, corporate events and everything in between.
