Pop artist Hope Vista has released “BC, AD,” the new single off of her upcoming EP “Miss Outlaw” (date TBA). “BC, AD” is her fourth single release in just four months, spotlighting a consistent flow of creativity that she deems to be the inspiration behind her next EP (her last being 2022’s “Trauma Response), due out this summer. This song strikes a balance between 2000’s pop and 90’s R&B influences, finding the songwriting choices to almost evenly align with both, packaging together vocal stacks and beat-driven production. Playing on the biblical phrases “Before Christ, After Death,” Hope wanted to formulate her own before and after jump points, aptly creating the concept of “Before Complications, After Dissolution”. Ever-expanding, Hope Vista continues to let her pop instincts soar to new heights, especially as “Miss Outlaw” is on the horizon. About “BC, AD”, she says: |
“BC, AD” came about wildly fast, and that’s how I knew it would be my next single. I was actually in the middle of a work day and had a meeting at 12:30 PM. It was noon, and I just decided to try writing something new while I had half an hour until this scheduled meeting. 12:30 PM came along so quickly, I didn’t even realize that I had written an entire instrumental in 30 minutes. There were just a few small elements I needed to add in before it was done, so I actually was late to my meeting because I told my supervisor I had to follow this energy. Which is so precocious, and normally I wouldn’t do that! But there was a very specific type of energy in the air when I was writing this song, and it always seems that the unexpected ones are the strongest. |
She is Hope Vista; a wildly anxious soul, emboldened by the endless depths of pop music and how the contents of her brain fit into it. But as of recently, the phantom pop pioneer wondered – how will a year’s worth of recent, unexpected life changes impact her offerings as an artist? Hope Vista is very much still fueled by ice cold cans of Diet Dr. Pepper and extensive therapy, but the melancholic platform she once stood on has risen to a different level; one of introspection, privacy, and in many ways, fear. So how does her dark, ghostly, glitchy sonic smoothie continue to transform with fear of judgment on the brain? Easy. She returns to her first love – pop music – and injects it directly into the ears of anyone with an itch for bubblegum-y, alternative-fused, intoxicating baubles. There’s no question that Hope Vista is not afraid of high-risk evolution. But now, equipped with a fiery set of red locks, red lips, and the flaming energy of a Leo, she’s the archetype for violently kicking a foot through the wall and shedding pre-metamorphic layers. |
