The latest video from Roger Jaeger breathes new life into a song from his 2015 album Start Over.  “I Just Wanna Meet You” takes the lessons of a broken relationship and molds a positive outcome from the pain.  Light and breezy, the pop song features a memorable melody with some impeccable playing.  Most notable is the acoustic guitar work by Jaeger, accompanied by some lowkey horns.  In addition, his mellow voice conveys his newfound optimism.  The video, filmed at various locales in Nashville, portrays his meeting with a girl via split-screen techniques.  All in all, it ends happily, but you’re held in suspense for a while.  I thoroughly enjoyed this video & song and hope to hear more new material in the near future.

Bio:

In 2005, Oklahoma native Roger Jaeger moved to India, where he learned to make the perfect cup of chai.  More importantly, after being inspired by a track on Jeff Buckley’s “Grace”,  it was that year he fell in love with the sitar.  Roger developed a strong devotion and passion for India, its people, and its culture.  As a result the sitar started bleeding its way into his modern Coldplay-esque sound.

While in India, Roger nearly lost his life when he suddenly became seriously ill with ulcerative colitis. After spending some days in the hospital in New Delhi and continuing the healing process back in the US, he developed a renewed sense of purpose.  Consequently, his music took on a whole new meaning.

His debut release “Sunrise” (2004) and his sophomore record “Beacon” (2013) both shared a recurring theme of light.  The third release carries a thread of hope as well.  Released in November 2015, “Start Over” reflects the sentiments and convictions Roger has gathered along his personal journey of discovery.  Enlisting the help of San Diego based producer, Ryan Poole, the two beautifully paired Roger’s guitar driven pop sound with a variety of musical influences.  These range from One Republic, Jonny Lang, Foo Fighters and Sting to Jimmy Eat World, Gotye and Sam Smith.  In addition, “Start Over,” strikes the perfect balance between relatable commercial sounds of pop radio and creative instrumentation. It is an inspiring and refreshing piece of musical art.
